A colleague of mine decided to skip the fancy rigging and instead screwed an L-shaped bracket to the wall, attaching the Kinect to it with doublesided tape, and securing the cable to prevent accidental yanking. Once you've got the Kinect up in place, run the Kinect Tuner with your kid s in the play space, and within that tool, manually adjust the camera to tilt down a bit.

Don't just tilt the camera down by hand, because the system will just compensate by angling back up. Mind you, since you basically tweaked it for the smallest members of the household, you may need to re-tune it when the kids go to bed, and the grown-ups queue up to make fools of themselves. Didn't want to mount anything to the frame of the screen, and after I dremmeled off a couple of pieces in the back to make it sit flush with the wall, it worked great.

The Kinect sensor is sitting at 7'5" above the floor and works absolutely perfect. If you back up too far it gets a little glitchy, but if you stand where you are supposed to, it's flawless.

I tried 3 different games and none of them complained about seeing the floor my biggest worry or anything else for that matter. So while the guidelines say a max height of 6', you can definitely exceed that without any real issues. I'll try to remember to come back here and update this once they have put it through the paces.

Well the Kinect is cool with our daughter, who is 4, but not so cool with our son, who is 2. It really seems to depend on the game. Kinect Sports is so-so, but the tech demo I suppose it's not a big deal, most of the games are a bit much for him anyway.

He's about a foot shorter than his sister at this point, so maybe when he's 3 and about 6 inches taller, and able to get the games better, we'll be all set. Anyway, that's all I have to report. Thanks for the update, I'm motivated to give it a shot now.
